From Norway to the Emerald Isle: Real journeys to Salesforce

Cecilie and Marcus had different paths to Salesforce, but their experiences share a common thread: a supportive and engaging recruitment and relocation process.

Cecilie, who has a background in social science, took a gap year after university to explore her options and eventually landed a remote sales role in Amsterdam. It was during this time that she discovered Salesforce.

“I chatted with someone at Salesforce and got a great impression of the company,” Cecilie shares.

“It took off from there. From interviewing to relocating, the entire process has been conversational and supportive — ultimately, I was excited to join.

Going from finance to sales can be quite the jump, but throughout the entire process, Marcus felt set up to succeed. “The recruitment process at Salesforce was incredibly empowering from the start,” Marcus shared.

“From the moment I started the process, I was connected with the hiring manager and invited for an informal chat. The team provided me with all the support I needed and the opportunity to connect with existing employees for preparation. It was clear that they were invested in my success, even before I came over to Ireland.

Smooth sailing to Dublin: How Salesforce supports your big move

Relocating to a new country can be daunting, but Salesforce ensures the transition is as smooth as possible. “The relocation process was the least stressful part of moving,” Cecilie notes. “Salesforce provided support with travel, expenses, and even help finding apartments and emergency information. I could focus on learning my new role without worrying about everything else. It made me feel safer and more at peace.

Salesforce’s relocation process is focused on one goal: to make relocating more accessible and easy. Once a candidate accepts an offer at Salesforce, our local Relocation Partners will kick off your relocation support, including a call from a dedicated relocation specialist. This specialist will support everything from airfare travel to sourcing temporary accommodation options — making sure a candidate’s transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

How can BDRs grow at Salesforce?

Now, let’s talk about the role itself. What does a Business Development Representative (BDR) do at Salesforce, and how can this be a launchpad for your career? Cecilie and Marcus provide some valuable insights.

Cecilie explains, “My job is to support my Account Executives focused on the Norwegian market. I do prospecting, help identify customer challenges, and explore how our solutions can help. It involves a lot of calling and understanding how to leverage our products to solve customer problems. It’s a great mix of project management tasks, continuous learning, and social interaction — figuring out how to gather information and make it digestible for our customers.”

Marcus adds, “As a BDR, my role is straightforward yet impactful. I research and reach out to existing and potential customers through various channels. Once I get engagement, I connect them with the right teams to show how Salesforce can help. Booking meetings is key, and the commission is a great motivator. But what excites me most is the collaborative environment and the direct impact on Salesforce’s success in Norway.

Ready to make your mark in Dublin?

If you’re a driven and curious individual in the Nordics looking for an exciting career move, Salesforce Dublin could be your perfect fit. Cecilie’s top tip for new starters is to “lower your shoulders and accept that you won’t feel in complete control during the first few weeks. That’s perfectly okay. Things move quickly here, and we all learn together. It’s about continuous learning; no one expects you to know everything from the start. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!”

Marcus advises reaching out to current employees on LinkedIn, noting that “people are very open to talking and guiding you through the process.

It’s a fantastic place to work with a great culture, and the work is both challenging and rewarding.”

Dublin is a city that offers something for everyone, and Salesforce Dublin echoes the Silicon Docks’ promise of opportunity.

“The city is easy to navigate and has something for everyone,” Cecilie says.

“The office is welcoming, and the people and mindset are truly inspiring.” Marcus emphasizes the company’s personal touch, highlighting that “they genuinely care about their employees and want us to succeed. The training and support are top-notch, and the team culture is exceptional. You can build an amazing network and feel like you’re part of a community.”
