Automation in foreign currency revaluation

Writing on his blog, Hristijan Durgutov stated that foreign currency revaluation is the process companies use to update the value of their foreign currency transactions, such as unpaid bills (accounts payable) and customer invoices (accounts receivable), into their local currency. 

He noted that since exchange rates change over time, the value of these open transactions also changes. Durgutov wrote that in D365 F&O, companies can run the revaluation process for both accounts payable and receivable. 

He explained that the system uses exchange rates for each currency pair to recalculate the value of all unsettled amounts on a chosen date. After revaluation, the subledgers for accounts payable and receivable are updated, and entries are posted to the general ledger. This ensures the company’s financial reports are accurate. 

Durgutov noted that from his experience working with finance teams, foreign currency revaluation is an important but time-consuming task for companies operating in many markets. 

However, with version 10.0.43, this process can now be automated. After a one-time setup, the business process automation scheduler takes care of monthly revaluations automatically. Durgutov then explained how to enable process automation for accounts receivable and accounts payable foreign currency revaluation.
