How to enable the latest purchase price parameter in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations

Writing on the CloudFronts blog, Hitesh Jingare stated that keeping track of what you pay for items is important if you want to control costs accurately in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

He noted that one setting that plays a big role in how item prices are updated is called the latest purchase price parameter.

Jingare explained that once this setting is turned on, the system updates an item’s price based on the most recent purchase cost entered in a purchase order. He added that each time a new PO is created, the price of an item can change automatically to reflect the most recent cost recorded in the system.

Jingare then explained:

  • What happens when you turn on the latest purchase price parameter.
  • How to turn on this setting step by step.
  • How to see a record of price changes using the last price history feature.
