About Juan Carlos Niebles
Juan Carlos is a prominent researcher of Colombian origin who currently holds the position of Director of Research at Salesforce AI Research. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University and co-directs the Stanford Vision and Learning Lab (SVL). His work involves leading projects that aim to develop advanced algorithms enabling machines to interpret and understand the visual world.
A Journey of Excellence
Before joining Salesforce in 2021, Niebles had a distinguished career at Stanford University. From 2015 to 2021, he served as a Senior Research Scientist at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and as an Associate Research Director at the Stanford-Toyota Center for AI Research. Additionally, he was an Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Universidad del Norte in Colombia from 2011 to 2019, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of AI professionals.
