Outbound Marketing is being removed from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys

Microsoft announced that the Outbound marketing module will be removed from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys on June 30, 2025. This means that the Real-time journeys module will be the only workplace for app users, and it has been the default area for new environments for a while now.

Anyone still using Outbound marketing is advised to begin your transition soon so that you are completely switched over to using Real-time journeys before the removal date.

We can’t say we didn’t see this coming. Microsoft has been encouraging us to use Real-time journeys since its addition to the app in 2021, and they have long made it clear that their focus was on development in that module and deprioritizing Outbound.

The Outbound module was the default work area in the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys app (formerly Dynamics 365 Marketing) for a long time, so it’s understandable that there may be apprehension about this removal and required transition. But we are confident that this will be a beneficial move, and Microsoft is working to make it as easy as possible. The interface and many aspects of Real-time (like the email and form designers, contact records, etc.) will be familiar so that you can jump into using the app without having to relearn foundational skills or navigation. This leaves you open to considering the new functionality available in real-time, visualizing how your content can better serve and reach your customers, and adjusting/recreating content accordingly.

To help your migration, Microsoft has created Transition FAQs, transition resource documentation, and even a transition playbook.

Yet, with all that, you may want additional guidance and assurance that you’re completing all the required steps to ensure that the move does not interrupt your regular marketing efforts.
